Amla berry (or Indian gooseberry) is a glossy light green fruit with a distinctive sour astringent taste that grows in wild tropical forests of India. Amla is the fruit of Phyllanthus emblica, also called Emblica officinalis and it belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family. Amla fruit is reported to contain an extremely high concentration of bio flavonoid Antioxidants, ellagic acid, flavonoids and tannin. It contains more Gallic acid (a potent antioxidant) than any other fruit, it is rich in polyphenols, minerals and is reputed to have the highest content of vitamin C of any natural occurring substance in nature. And it is dried in a low temperature. The dried Amla fruits are ground into Powder form. The Amla fruits are carefully washed and shadow dried under suitable atmospheric conditions and then powdered.
